An Econometric Analysis of Student Success and Clasroom Size in Turkey

Kadir Nagac

Abstract

This study aims to find the determinants of student success in Turkey. By using the variables that are obtained at the province level and using OLS regression model we find determinants of student success. Our measure of student success (and dependent variable) is province level university placement rate. Parents’ education, classroom size, household size, family income and regional factors are used as independent variables. Our results show that household size, classroom size, mother’s education and regional factors significantly affect placement rate of a given province.
